Difference between cathodic electrophoretic paint and anodic electrophoretic paint

What is the difference between cathodic electrophoretic paint and anodic electrophoretic paint? Electrophoretic paint manufacturers share that electrophoretic paint is also called electrodeposited paint. This kind of paint makes the polymer film-forming material in the paint take charge under the action of DC electric field, move towards the electrode with opposite charge, and then deposit on the metal surface. If the polymer film-forming material is negatively charged and deposited on the metal surface with positive charge, this coating is called anodic electrophoretic paint. If the polymer film-forming material is positively charged and deposited on the surface of the gold domain with negative charge, such coating is called cathodic electrophoretic paint.

There are two types of electrophoretic paint: varnish and color paint, but most of them are color paint. During electrophoresis, the pigment particles are wrapped by charged polymer film-forming particles and move to the metal surface with opposite charges. Therefore, whether it is anode or cathode electrophoresis paint mainly depends on the properties of the polymer film-forming particles.

The film forming substance of anodic electrophoretic paint is generally a polymer compound with carboxyl group, which can be dissolved in water after being neutralized by ammonia or amine compound into salt. During electrophoresis, it is ionized into polymer film forming substance ion with negative charge and amine ion with positive charge. The high molecular film-forming substance deposited on the metal surface has carboxyl groups, and a few particles with carboxyl groups can also react with the metal ions released from the anode to form metal soap and deposit on the anode.

The film-forming material of cathodic electrophoretic paint is generally polymer compound with amine group, which can be dissolved in water after being neutralized by carboxylic acid to form salt. During electrophoresis, it ionizes into polymer film-forming material ion with positive charge and loaded carboxylic acid ion. The polymer film-forming material deposited on the surface of gold JS has amine group, and the deposit does not contain gold urine soap.

During the manufacture of electrophoretic paint, the polymer film-forming substance is dissolved in the cosolvent, and then mixed and ground with the pigment. Sometimes a small amount of non-ionic water is added to prepare the color paint for users. Users add non-ionic water for dilution when using. The anodic electrophoretic paint has been partially neutralized with amine before leaving the factory. When using it, you need to add another amine to adjust the pH value, and add water to dilute it to a certain solid content before use. However, the film-forming material of cathodic electrophoretic paint has amine group, which is not neutralized by acid when leaving the factory. When used, the user can adjust the ph value by adding acid neutralization, and at the same time add water to dilute to a certain solid content before use.
